Ian Brown inspired, Top 10 debut albums, Topper on reunion reasons

Good Morn’ Friday did arrive in the end…..a few quick bits this morning to have with your coffee and I’ll have some more time later.

Ian Brown of the Stone Roses was impressed with Mick Jones‘ collection of memorabilia to the point where he would consider doing the same. I really like the Stone Roses but how far does one great album really take you? My Mum could open an exhibition with her collection of stuff but I best not plant that seed.

Speaking of great debut Albums this list does include The Clash s/t debut

One of the top 10 debuts of all time?

but for some reason it’s at number 10. When you see the top of the list you’ll share my dismay I’m sure. I would vouch for 10,7,5,4 and 3 – and would be interested to know yours. Making lists is something I do have a habit of doing but have kept it from the ClashBlog so far…you’ve been warned.

How near The Clash came to reforming prior to the sad loss of Joe has been pondered at length in the years since and prior. Much has been said but here Topper Headon goes on the record with his recollections. I’ve written about it before as have many others and the end result is the same, it didn’t happen and perhaps thats how it was meant to be. Paul Simonon has consistently seemed to be the greatest opposer to a reunion and he knows his reasons. I still think it comes down to The Clash accomplished more by not going down that path.

Finally, Bernie Rhodes owes me an email….Bernie???

More very soon….Tim

    Interesting list of debut albums…

Obviously I’d vouch for The Clash. Weezer’s s/t can be fun, but doesn’t seem top 10 material to me. I’ve never been able to get into Television either, so I don’t really like that at #2.
