'This Is Big Audio Dynamite' re-release details (wait til Spring!)
It’s like a Stone Roses album at this point isn’t it? The long promised/awaited reissue of Big Audio Dynamite’s debut album as a ‘legacy edition’ (2 discs) has been delayed more than something that gets delayed a lot…..
‘This Is Big Audio Dynamite’ Legacy Edition was originally expected in August/September, then that was changed to February 2010 and
now we’re being told to expect this on April 27 of next year. Will it be worth the wait? Well I think so/hope so as to keep our appetites whetted they’ve finally announced the track listing that Don Letts has been working on. The fear was we’d simply get the original album remastered plus endless remixes of the singles so I’m pleased to announce there is more to come. That said it’s still nearly five months off at this time so don’t hold me to what is currently quoted.
Disc one is the original 8 tracks from the album fully remastered. Disc two is what we’re paying for and waiting for as 12 tracks will be included. There’s more unreleased material than anticipated which is great news; 12″ remixes of album tracks ‘Stone Thames’ and ‘Sudden Impact’ an alternate version of ‘BAD’ and ‘Sony’. The biggest news for me is the release finally of the rather excellent ‘Electric Vandal’ which Don Letts played from the vaults for fans on the BBC. The track was originally scheduled to be on the album.
I’d imagine some sort of gatefold packaging and hopefully some extra art will be included and I’d imagine that Sony will see how this fares before committing to other legacy special editions. That’s purely a guess on my part. Full track listing is below (info courtesy slicing up eyeballs), price currently unannounced.
