Welcome back to the blog after what I realise is an exceptionally long break, I have a dozen excuses but I’ll save them for another time. Nice to see you back at the blog and I hope you’ve been well, all is well here – just a bit busy. I hope to get back to normal writing frequency in the days ahead so stay tuned.
Well worth a visit today though as I’m thrilled with John Wilson’s interview with The Clash that aired today on BBC Radio 4. I’ll say The Clash (in the fullest sense) as the 30 minute interview (cleverly) includes out-takes from his 1999 interview with Joe Strummer which blend almost perfectly with his recent chat with Topper, Paul and Mick in the studio. The 30 minutes will fly past I guarantee and there is a lot worth hearing about above and beyond talking up the boxset that is now just a month away. Hearing Joe (and he’s bloody funny) is great as is the demeanour of the other three as they look back at the band’s history as well as their legacy today and into the future. Not for the first time the topic of reunion of The Clash comes up and it’s interesting to hear Mick the only one comes close to sitting on a fence.
They even stole my idea (previously posted) about what celebrities chose The Clash for their Desert Island Discs. No credit given naturally.
I hope you take the time to listen and if you’ve stumbled upon this earlier today listen again or share it with people who will enjoy it. Hopefully I’ll be back over the weekend, be good.
