Talk of The Town, Carbon Silicon
Good Morning, it’s warm again here as expected. Summers in the desert are predictable at least; I fed the goldfish out in the pond this morning and one had a white flag! What’s that about?…I’ll give them some ice today.
There’s a really good interview with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders today and Jones and Strummer are referenced. Hynde had a career path that intersected with The Clash a number of times. As a kid I was aware that she crossed paths with the Clash and used to think her and Mick could have a
litter of kids to form future generations of brilliant bands. For her to end up with Ray Davies and Jim Kerr (not at the same time) always befuddled me back then. That aside, I think the first 2 Pretenders albums stand up as classics that any serious music fan should own. She moved to London pre-punk and was very much around The Pistols and the Clash and former employer (in a retail sense) Malcolm McLaren. She’s an interesting one for sure and sometimes in interviews she comes across as abrupt and unwilling to reflect on the pinnacle years of ’79-’86 for her band, this interview is not one of those so have a read.
Carbon Silicon (I promised to get the latest) released a great video for What’s Up Doc the track is strong and it’s such an enjoyable video for the animation. I’ve never seen Mick Jones chased by zombie frogs, until now! New album The Carbon Bubble still slated to come out later this summer.
I’ve been working on the inner pages of the site (see top tool bar) and adding links as I go. Have a look, I’ll be working on Discography, audio files and a Clash Family tree in the weeks ahead.
Have a good one.
Tim
