Joe Strummer Mural and Google Maps
If you’ve played with google maps and the ‘streetview’ feature you’ve probably dragged the little orange chap onto a road and checked out the street you used to live on, your favourite pub, or the workplace of the girl/bloke you used to stalk.
Google Map in NYC....hey Joe !
Put it to some Clash use. Visit google maps and then type Avenue A and East 7th ave new york. Go to the walk feature and head a little South, on the wall of the red brick building you’ll see the Joe Strummer memorial painting. Zoom in and enjoy. (Incidentally the mural was updated this past February see here for the ‘new look’ and thanks to eagle eyed Clash Blog visitors for pointing it out)

google maps must be old… since they re-did the mural a while ago…
Yeah I think it’s last Summer or Autumn. I like the original mural more…..will post a photo of the revised NYC one also.

the previous was perfect!!
I think most people agree, I know I do. I preferred the original too.
Now, it’s the new one on googlemap.
Do we know who drew the new one and why?
I want to go there and see the original one!
