I've always been a big fan. i can't imagine anyone covering their material just because it's so...uncoverable! As far as Clash sampling...I guess I'm all for it because it does bring the Clash into the minds of people who may never have noticed or cared about their music, or to a new generation completely. (although I can't quite understand how you couldn't care about or notice the Clash) That Paper Planes song just makes me so happy because I think of Joe penning those original lyrics at the Iroquois Hotel on New Year's Eve and what a tremendous song Straight to hell is. And while it's not side 6 of Sandinista, as far as non-Clash fans go, most people have never heard of it. When Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack came out earlier this year the Borders bookstore I work at had it on the overhead PA every day, and even if I heard Paper Planes 5 times a day, it still always made me smile and shake my booty.
