Mick and Joe, exclusive photo from last night
It’s 4am as I write – a very short post. Dear Pete in London was able to make it down to the R+R Public Library gig with The Kooks last night. Mick Jones did indeed appear on what marked Joe Strummer’s 57th birthday and played Police & Thieves. I must confess writing The Clash Blog has recharged my highs of loving The Clash and also brought into sharper relief how deeply I miss Joe. We must learn to cherish who we have in our life while they are share our footsteps on the earth. Whether you’re in West London, Western Australia or the West Wing we all too often forget what we have in common. As deprived as yesterday made me feel about Joe I think if you have 50 years as worthwhile as his were, then the distance you traveled can’t be measured by time and years but only by impact. This photograph below is just a few hours old - Joe and Mick sharing a stage – and Christ they shared some music too didn’t they?

Wow, this brought tears to my eyes. Tim, you truly embody Joe’s spirit in every sense. Honored to know you, my friend. Thanks for this post. You do a phenomenal job and the world is lucky to have to to carry the torch forward. x.
Thanks Laura, all I do is share the work of others – in this case Pete (lens man top ranking) but all the wonderful people who post and share their stories. I want the blog to be a gathering place – so I’m glad it’s beginning to feel like that.
Thanks Laura, it’s comments like that which make it all worthwhile. Whether it’s by luck, design, skill or some higher guiding light I don’t really know…
I’m lucky to live not too far away from all this and have got to know Mick a little through my photography. The frustration of not being able to attend because of geographical constraints is terrible. If I can capture a little of the atmosphere for others through photography then I’m happy…
I’ll relate the whole story of how this happened sometime soon. Just working on other images from the night…Plenty more to follow.
Pete,
Acton
Not sure I can be worthy of that compliment…but thanks all the same – thanks for your blog support Laura
