Fiction, Male Models and Shatter The Hotel
I’ve got a backlog of items I wanted to share so let me cut right to it. Firstly I was intrigued by a short work of fiction on the Maximum Fiction site -- it’s a piece about Joe Strummer in a series he is putting together on a variety of iconic figures, the complete version is at the link provided in PDF format. Beneath is the video that accompanies it -- give it a try and read the complete piece also. It’s an interesting concept and I wish them well in proceeding with it and hopefully getting it published. Keep an eye on the blog as more pieces are there. When I say it’s about Joe Strummer -- it’s a clever blend of fiction and biography -- reading or viewing it will make more sense than my explanation -- so tuck in.
Up On the Catwalk
This is an older story but one I kept pushing back -- it’s neither extremely important nor entirely pointless just somewhere in the middle. If you haven’t seen or read about it -- Paul Simonon’s two sons have done a bit of modeling -- Claude and Louis did their bit for Prada. Not sure I even have an opinion though I’d sooner they picked up a bass guitar, though there is plenty of time for that. Good looking lads all the same and I assume they are still in school in London. There’s been a lack of Paul news of late -- I wonder if that’s a good thing? I was excited with the Damon Albarn project -- perhaps with the 2nd demise of Blur it might now revive?
Shatter The Hotel (a project of different artists making an album of Strummer / Clash songs in dub) has updated their myspace page to include audio samples of a few tracks. Additional information here on the original post. All proceeds benefit the Strummerville foundation, album due out in December.
