A very good Sunday to you then wherever you may be and thanks for dropping back in. Bloody cold here (by San Diego standards) as it is across the country but then again it is December so why am I rambling on about it? I’ll tell you why – it’s because my feet are cold and I hate having cold feet.
Just a quick update to get you on your way and it focuses on detailing a few more Joe Strummer tributes that are coming up in the weeks ahead as we near the eleventh anniversary of Joe’s death. That passage of time, eleven years, seems hard to fathom as I remember it like it just happened. It’s not until how I realise how much my own life has changed in the intervening years that it seems that it has been quite as long as that. As always you can keep an eye on all sorts of things coming up on the events calendar on the site and if you’ve anything you may wish to add to it please contact me.
Some quick overviews and links where I have them for other Joe tribute events this month are below:
Bologna – Dec 14 1800, Il Tributo Italiano A Joe Strummer. More than a dozen acts featured and specials guests scheduled including Johnny Green and Robin Banks. I think the venue is called Labatoria Crash at Via della Cooperazione 10, Bologna. (I really need an Italian speaker/reader to help at times!) Tickets €12 are available here.
Milan – Dec 21 ‘Stay Free Joe’ at Barrio’s Social Centre – Barona street ang. Boffalora away – Milan – tel.028915925. Featuring The Gang, 5MDR, The Wet Dogs and more. This event will benefit Strummerville. 21 and over and admission is €10
Osaka – Dec 23 1700, Night Wax, Namba Pier, 6026 2-11-1 Osaka. Photo exhibition, DJs and proceeds to benefit Strummerville. Featuring Equalizer, King Kazz, Tucchie and T-Z (whoever they may be). Tickets are 2000 ¥
Wilmington, Delaware – Dec 20 1900, World Cafe Live at The Queen, 500 North Market Street, Wilmington DE. All ages show and admission is $8. More than eight acts scheduled including The Lift Up, Tin Can Ramblers, The Keefs, The Headies and more. Tickets and further details here.
I think that’s all for now (in addition to those mentioned in the last two weeks), if you find out about anything local that you want to promote via the blog just get in touch. Finally also a quick plug for the 2014 Forever Strummer calendar which is available via and significantly helps Strummerville. I’ve loved the last two years of calendar and I’m sure this one will be great again.
Right then, a hot shower for me and then some football practice in the rain. Cheers for dropping in.
