Glasvegas' Joe Strummer lookalike gone missing…check Paris!!
Now this is a bit odd (and I sincerely hope not an issue) In a recent poll for Joe Strummer lookalikes you overwhelmingly selected the lead singer of Scottish band Glasvegas; James Allan. That would be a good call based on all the photos and video I’ve seen of him over the last year.
What I don’t like is that now his behaviour may be similar to Joe Strummer. He has gone missing since last Friday!!!
It was fine that he is seemingly making an effort to resemble the look of a certain Mr. Mellor but this is a concern.
Instant memories of Strummer vanishing on The Clash plus the disappearance of Richey Edwards from Manic Street Preachers back in 1995 came to me. I sincerely hope this has a conclusion similar to the Joe Strummer event. The departure and (presumed) death of Edwards not only has never been explained but it created a sad footnote to a band who were pretty brilliant with him.The Manics has soldiered on and made more great music but what a sad tale that was.
The Glasvegas singer was last heard from on Friday after returning to the UK on a flight from Italy. Based on this story the situation is still unfolding but really reminds me of Manic Street Preachers where at first everyone said – it’s “Just Richey needing some time away”….that was 14 years ago. Hoping this has a much happier conclusion in the next few days. Even as I write there are contradicting reports online.
