Exclusive – Interview with Ray Gange coming up
I’m excited to confirm that Ray Gange has kindly agreed to take part in an interview for the Clash Blog. I’d presume most regular visitors to the site will know exactly who Ray is but for those who don’t he is an actor who was chosen to play the roadie in the Clash film Rude Boy and was involved with the band during the elongated production of the film that lasted from 1978-9. The picture was ultimately released in 1980.
Studying the film and it’s part in Clash history is as difficult to pin down as much of the inner politics of the band itself. I’ll leave that for another time but it must be seen if you have the time.
Back to Mr Gange who became an actor out of the blue and subsequently (post Rude Boy) pursued that career in Los Angeles. One constant in his life has been music and since 1978 the association with The Clash. He lives in London DJs and paints. He retains a sense of pride in his unique role and exposure to an historic period of music history. By all accounts a really nice chap so I look forward to this. I’ve got 2 friends in London lined up to interview him in a few weeks and Peter hopefully can be able to take a few photographs for the blog.
What I’d like – If you have any questions for Ray please email me at the usual (Tim(at)theclashblog.com) or leave comments – and I’ll select the best and let him decide which are most interesting. Do your homework…we don’t wanna bore him!

Hi!!!
I’ve got a question: Is there any reason why some of the Clash members seemed to be really pissed on him in “Rude Boy”??
Hmmm. And I thought he was going to “go into electrics.”
