Exclusive Images from Rock n Roll Public Library

Really excited to share more exclusive photography from Peter Stevens who helped with the JGD images. This time Pete has been down to the Westway to shoot privately images from the new exhibition of Mick Jones memorabilila I’ve been discussing this week. Pete was able to have time with Mick and had free range to stage these images and Mick was previewed  them (so to speak) and knew they’d be appearing on the blog. Pete said he had a lovely time and the courtesy of all involved was rewarding for him. So let’s share these with Clash fans worldwide. The first 4 images are below and I’m sure you will enjoy them.  More to follow later today (tonight in the UK/Europe).

Thanks Pete – these are superb!Small Mick2

Hi Tim — thanks again for giving us all the details and links to the press on Mick’s Library. Please do keep us updated, the press links are valuable to those of us who are stuck in the USA here where news of Mick’s Library just doesn’t seem to be newsworthy. (I’m still waiting for Rolling Stone to cover this — wtf? Pop culture/Mick Jones = great read and perfect copy for Rolling Stone fans.)
This is just awesome; and a peek at the Stummerville room would be most lovely! Thanks again for taking the time to keep us informed. Cheers. TTYsoon xxx

  2. My Pleasure…I’m enjoying the photos as much as you as I’m baking in the Desert South West.

    More to follow ~ Tim

Sorry bout the heat there–we’re having a mild summer here in NJ; no complaints!!! Can I ask you if it’s possible to send me a link to the photo of Joe, Mick and Paul on the boardwalk that’s on top of your home page? I tried print screen and also print page, but it does not show up. I love that photo so much; I’d like to keep it with my Clash Asbury Park ticket stub. Thanks, Tim. Awesome news bout the Shatter the Hotel project. My friends and I are fans of John Brown’s Body, so it’s exciting to hear they’ve contributed. Thanks again for all the great info! Have areally nice day; we’ll chat soon.

Cool stuff geezer. But why is Yosser Hughes in the cartoon at the top of the page?

  5. Pete Stevens says:

“Gissa job, Karl”…It does look like Yosser, doesn’t it ?

For all of you who live outside the UK or are too young to remember it’s worth reading this wikipedia entry. The Alan Bleasdale TV drama ‘Boys From The Blackstuff’ eloquently defined an era in Britain.

Many of my earlier ‘big gigs’ were in Liverpool, where this series was set and the difference by this time between the North and South was palpable. I moved to London in the same year….
