Late seventies and early eighties journalism meticulously ascribed what 'PUNK' was meant to be, narrow and blinkered, pogoing in ever-decreasing circles, dressed in a uniform of out-dated, mail order bondage trousers and the obligatory tartan bumflap. Mainly, they demanded to classify and categorise everything. For anyone who hasn't yet seen it then PLEASE watch Henry Rollins in Don Letts' excellent 'Punk:Attitude' documentary. That's what PUNK was about.... "Wake up ! Open your eyes and do YOUR OWN THING !!" One of my favourite quotes from Joe is "I think people ought to know that we're anti-fascist, we're anti-violence, we're anti-racist and we're pro-creative. We're against ignorance !"
