About
About the Clash Blog…. well where do I begin? The original idea was to create a site that essentially acted much like the fanzines that were synonymous in the early days of punk and try to create an online equivalent the advantage being that the website would be a two-way street and we could create a Clash based community.
The blog began in June of 2009 is now coming up on its 500th post in September of 2010. I began the site because I’m a fan, I’ll always be a fan and I saw room for a site where fans would gather in hopefully a more entertaining place than a forum or a traditional site. I try and post every day and sometimes more than that, I seek out news views and opinions that relate to The Clash and each of the members of the band. We’ve managed to build a pretty healthy community via the blog of Clash fans from every corner of the globe and we communicate about Clash events and news stories in addition to looking backward when needed. This site is a mixture of stories that are fresh and also recurring features on the blog such as:
Clash Landmarks
Clash Events
Westway traffic
Clash shopping
Video Clash
I also got quite a few things planned for the coming months such as a featured interview each month, more audio links and I am also looking at whether a Clash shop connected to the site might be of interest. Almost a trading house for rare or interesting Clash items. I’m always looking for other suggestions for the site so contact me via the contact page, or jump onto twitter and just type theClashBlog.
More about me if you’re interested below, otherwise I hope you enjoy your visit from wherever you are and please return whenever you can.

I conceived this site as a labour of love….or an affliction of being a fan of The Clash since I was a little kid. Incidentally, I’m Tim and my Mum says I apparently wanted to be called Malcolm (??) as a nipper…up until The Clash…then I wished I was named Mick. I still don’t like Tim. I’m from just outside London and lived in Shepherds Bush (you can guess why) and then Chiswick, Acton and Ealing. I now live in the States in Phoenix after stints in Chicago and Los Angeles. My passion for the band has never waned, and with the exception of Arsenal FC nothing rivals my interest as much. (Except my girlfriend but that doesn’t make for much of a website)
It’s funny – through Facebook people I’ve not spoken to since I was 16 have found me and the first memory they share is ‘You were mad about The Clash’. Guilty I suppose and over the years since I stayed loyal to the members of the band via B.A.D. and Joe’s solo work.
I’m a lifelong music fan, I don’t proclaim to have limitless expertise about the subject matter but I do have the zeal to make this website the starting point for any Clash fan. I hope that you, the community become part of creating that site. I’ll look to provide quality Clash research and also talk about bands I’ve loved in the intervening 25 years.
I’ll add a lot more in the weeks ahead about the direction I plan to take the site – the resources it can offer – and try some polls or similar to get reader input. I really want people to share what they know it will make for a great community.
More to follow…
Tim
